The Write Stuff is a writing competition organised by the Guernsey Literary Festival. It runs from Mon 29 April until Friday 19 July and gives school pupils the chance to win some great prizes by writing a 300 word short story – but there is one pivotal condition: ” Yes, she’s hiding in the basement, but be careful: she’s not alone.” must be the final piece of dialogue! Young writers taking part in the competition are asked to try to bring in more conversation and keep adjectives and adverbs to a minimum.
There are three age groups:
Years 4/5/6
Years 7/8/9
Years 10 plus
Each age group will be awarded 3 prizes :
1st Prize: £50 cash and a trophy for the year
2nd Prize: £25 and a certificate
3rd Prize: £25 and a certificate
All Prizes will be awarded by writer Louis de Bernieres at the Performing Arts Centre the evening of Friday 11 October.
