THE ARTS SOCIETY GUERNSEY - LECTURE
THE FORBIDDEN CITY; THE SECRETS OF CHINA’S IMPERIAL PALACE AND MUSEUM
Lecturer: Anna Haworth
The Forbidden City was built in Beijing in the early 15th century. Its pavilions house vast collections of art objects, collected by the Chinese Emperors. The lecture lifts the veil of secrecy to explore the art and architecture of the palace, the lives of its past inhabitants and recent history.
Anne is a lecturer at the V & A, the British Museum and the Queen’s Gallery. When resident in Shanghai she gave lectures on the history of the China trade and European Chinoiserie to diplomats and expatriates in Shanghai and Beijing.
The Arts Society Guernsey holds its lectures at Les Cotils, St Peter Port. Doors open at 6pm and the lecture is from 7pm to 8pm.
Entrance is free to members; non-members will be admitted upon payment of £15 at the door, if space permits.
