Before you become a writer, I firmly believe you should ‘know thyself’: stop and consider what is really important to you. Just over 16 years ago, family tragedy forced me to do just that, and as a result, I stopped just blindly ‘doing ‘and started considering, what did that mean? Why did they do that? What might happen next? Sixteen years later I’ve put many of those observations into stories; but what happened next, and why, is never quite what you expect – as in real life, of course!

Since writing my first book over a decade and a half ago, I now have three pennames, 12 fiction books in print across multiple genres, plus four children’s books and two non-fictions, with another adult fiction trilogy in the pipeline. I’m a B.R. A.G. Medallion honouree for Patchwork Man, the first in my Patchwork People thriller series, and also for Chained Melodies, a literary fiction.

I’ve just joined the Guernsey Literary Festival steering group, having moved to this beautiful island that I now call ‘home’ in April 2026, and am looking forward to being part of the team delivering the next festival. I paint too – my first love, having studied English Literature and Fine Art in London many, many years ago, so whenever I am not scribbling away, I’m painting in oils, (or playing with clay having recently discovered another new passion in ceramic sculpture) totally in awe and inspired by my new home.

I write across multiple genres – hence the multiple pennames, but why not stick to just one name and one genre?

‘Variety is the spice of life,’ I could say if I was being corny, but really, it’s because new ideas should be framed in the best format for them. Sometimes that’s a pacey thriller, sometimes it’s a vibrant children’s story, sometimes it’s an intricate literary fiction. And I do love a challenge…
