The first five years have provided rapid development for the Guernsey Arts Commission with the mandate to be a voice for the arts. Since our launch we’ve been pivotal in raising the profile of the arts, often in new disciplines and delivered to new audiences. Under the Chairmanship of Tony Gallienne, we’ve developed an arts-for-all spirit embracing accessibility and audience engagement which is epitomised by our Community Arts Programme, and we’ve grown fast to now include an Arts Development Team of five people, 10 Commissioners, 80+ GAC Volunteers and a Community Arts Team. With Tony retiring we are now looking for a new Chair to steer the GAC through the next phase and to build on from the euphoria of this initial growth period. The main challenge for the new Chair and the board in this time of financial restraint will be to provide the GAC with a sustainable financial bedrock.
If you are interested in taking the Commission into the next development phase, or know someone who might be persuaded to take on the role of Chairman, please do ask for further details and put your or their name forward by Friday 13 December.
