The Guernsey Arts Commission with the greenhouse Gallery, is very pleased to host a new exhibition by Lady Tait – a botanical artist. Lady Cynthia Tait has strong links with Guernsey, having lived here on occasion, with her daughters attending Blanchelande College whilst her husband was posted to the Far East.
Lady Tait moved to Africa – spending most of her time in Rhodesia as was, and South Africa. Whilst in Africa Lady Tait pursued her hobby of watercolour painting of the flora and fauna of Africa. These paintings per inherited by Cynthia Cormack, the grand-daughter and have been in storage for many, many years.
You can see over 60 paintings in the greenhouse Gallery, thanks to the collaboration of Raymond Evison, Alan Howell, the Guernsey Arts Commission, the Arts Foundation Guernsey, and Rickety Bridge and Gateway Publishing.
Gateway Publishing have produced a book of these paintings which is on sale in the museum shop.
Prints and postcards will be produced in due course.
