Canon and Jig - Pachelbel
Missa Criolla - Ariel Ramirez
The set of 12 extended anthems known as the “Chandos Anthems”, were written by G F Handel for the Duke of Chandos in 1720. The Anthems, of which “The Lord Is My Light” is number 10, contain almost every type and style of Handel’s music and a panorama of the composer’s creative output. The work is full of excitement, drama and expressive melody.
The Misa Criola, written by Ariel Ramirez in 1964 is widely regarded as a stunning artistic achievement that combines Spanish text with indigenous instruments and rhythms. It is a truly remarkable work.
Formed in 2007 The Guernsey Bach Choir has performed a large repertoire of choral music and is now a well-established vocal ensemble with a growing reputation for high standard performances.
