This class is great for aspiring young potters who love getting creative with clay. Bowls and spoons are such a fun set to make and are perfect to enjoy at breakfast time! They will be able to experiment with adding texture to the outside of the bowl and spoon set using a variety of the tools available at the studio. They will learn basic pinch pot method that can be applied to many other hand build applications. After the workshop, the bowl and spoon will bisque fired, covered in clear food safe glaze and fired again. They will be ready for pick up 6-8 weeks after the workshop.
This 1.5 hour workshop covers the basic fundamentals of making a mug. During the session we will cover:
• The design of the bowl and spoon
• Preparing the clay
• Learning the pinch pot technique and hand crafted spoon
• Decorating and glazing
All materials are included (clay, tools, glazing and firing), just bring your creative juices and ideas.
If you love hand building we’re also hosting a mug workshop from 11.30-1pm on Thursday 23rd February. If you take part in both hand building activities during half term (both 11am sessions on Tuesday and Thursday) you will have the opportunity to create an egg cup during one of the sessions so that you have a full breakfast set (Just like the Great Pottery Throwdown last year!)
This class is suitable for ages 8+
Please note that we require a minimum of 8 students to be able to run this class, and sadly will have to cancel if we don’t have sufficient interest.
