You will be provided with Charcoal and paper, and will be given a little time to experiment and find out about how this interesting medium can be used to form expressive and dramatic imagery.
The group will listen to a recording of actor Richard Burton reading Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s epic romantic poem ‘The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’, during which they can explore their responses to the poem and its imagery using Charcoal. A second play-through of the poem will give participants a chance to choose one aspect of the poem and develop a more detailed piece if they wish.
By the end of the session, you can expect to have produced a selection of charcoal drawings exploring a variety of subjects and atmospheres.
Please note that access is from the door in Fountain Street and that the inner street will be closed at this time.
