On a bleak autumn morning in 1555, Protestant Perotine wakes to find her husband leaving her as Catholicism returns to Guernsey, leaving her to face growing hostility alone. Inspired by the true story of the Guernsey martyrs - three ordinary women whose trial for theft escalated into accusations of heresy - Jersey author Dreena Collins explores faith, courage and survival in her novel Perotine. She discusses the dramatic historical events that shaped her story.
