What Shadow? (ce que dit la bouche d'ombre), an otherworldly collection of work as a result of a series of residencies that took place in Guernsey, Jersey and France in 2023-4.
The exhibition features a variety of media focusing on the history, mythology and folk traditions of Guernsey, Jersey and France as well as the exploration into the occult and spiritual worlds by Victor Hugo during his exile in Guernsey and Jersey between 1852-1870.
The three artists on residency, Yasmin Atkinson (Guernsey), Louise London (Jersey) and Estelle Chaigne (France) came together during the collaborative project between Guernsey Arts, ArtHouse Jersey and Les Ateliers du Vent (Rennes).
What Shadow? Is an exhibition suspended between reality and myth, playing with light and darkness exploring remnants of the past and encounters with perceptible fears and violences.
