After two years of painting Guernsey, Jenny Smith exhibits her work at the Coach-house Gallery.
“It has been a pleasure to work on these paintings of Guernsey over the last two year's during the pandemic when for much of the time I was confined to my house and studio. Using the resource material I had gathered on previous visits I enjoyed escaping visually to the island and capturing the coastal scenes and inland features with paint on canvas. I hope I have done justice to the various subjects I painted.
Throughout my life I had always drawn and painted but it wasn’t until 1987 when, after moving to America, I gained and Associate of Arts degree and became a professional artist. Over the years I have produced many different paintings but continually my love of flowers has been my preferred subject matter especially in the large scale fields of flowers canvasses I have become known for.
There are examples of these in my exhibit as well as my watercolours which are usually painted on location.
I hope my love for Guernsey will be evident to the viewers of these paintings and that they will lift their spirits as they have lifted mine.”
