Welcome to Radio Silence, a brand-new musical set against the backdrop of the Occupation of Guernsey in World War Two exploring the human tragedy and relationships between the oppressor and the oppressed.
This story examines the lives of six people thrown together in a situation not of their choosing and highlights the resilience of the Guernsey peoples who stayed behind. The complex relationships that formed and the struggles to deal with those against a backdrop of social upheaval. Radio Silence tells a fictional tale set against a backdrop of real historical events and explores the universal themes of changing attitudes, acceptance, tolerance and what freedom really means to us all. Although firmly set in 1940s Guernsey, the story is just as relevant today as we all try to navigate a world more polarized than ever.
At its heart, Radio Silence celebrates our Island spirit and the indomitable nature of the Guernsey spirit. Created by international award winning Guernsey artists Laura Simpson and Lydia Jane Pugh, this captivating musical is a deeply human story of love, loss and loyalty and asks:
What would you risk to resist?
