An exhibition in the Amherst Room of Castle Cornet showcasing illustrations of 'Once Upon an Island', an upcoming book by Penny Dawes.
This illustrated collection of lost tales of Guernsey folklore will transport you to an enchanted island of wizards and witches (of both white witchcraft and dark magic), potions and spells, fairies, mermaids and superstitions.
The ancient folklore of Guernsey allows modern-day islanders to discover how our ancestors felt about the natural world. Once Upon an Island explores the historical and cultural traditions behind the origin of each tale.
The exhibition will also feature a children's corner where children are welcome to sit and draw their favourite characters from the book or artwork on display, there will also be QR codes incorporated to allow visitors to access excerpts from the book via audiobook alongside the displays.
The exhibition will be on display in the Amherst Room at Castle Cornet for one week, 22nd - 30th October open every day from 10am - 5pm, please note that entry (including fees) to Castle Cornet is required.
