Lé Viaër Marchi (Guernésiais for The Old Market) is a much-loved annual celebration of Guernsey’s heritage, crafts, and traditions, organised by the National Trust of Guernsey.
Held in the picturesque grounds of Saumarez Park, this vibrant event transports visitors back in time with live music, traditional crafts, local food, and period costumes.
Visitors can explore stalls selling handmade crafts, watch demonstrations of traditional skills, and enjoy folk dancing and live performances that display Guernsey’s unique culture. A highlight is the delicious selection of local delicacies, including Guernsey gâche, bean jar, and cider.
With its bustling market atmosphere, historical reenactments, and community spirit, Lé Viaër Marchi is a true celebration of Guernsey’s past and present, bringing locals and visitors together for a nostalgic and entertaining evening. To top it all, we are literally ‘rolling out the barrel’ this year, with demonstrations of a recently donated barrel organ which used to be a familiar sight and sound around the higher parishes of Guernsey.
