As part of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of The Ladies’ College, ‘Taking Centre’ is a new piece of performance writing which centres around four key stories, interwoven together. One narrative follows a young woman, Olivia, who wishes to pursue her goal to be a West End star and all the ups and downs involved with pursuing such a career. While another narrative follows Anoushka, who faces the challenges of medical school, another follows a girl called Kathy, who is a victim of bullying at school, as well as a final family narrative with some more mature themes.
‘Taking Centre’, has been written by Head of Drama, Maggie King, with one clear remit: great roles in theatre for young women; it is also a celebration of the varied talents of the students – from all-singing, all-dancing musical numbers, to dramatic acting roles, there is something to delight every audience.
