The Battle of Newlands is the occupation diary of Winifred Harvey MBE (1888–1976), a lifelong resident of Newlands on Prince Albert Road. Evicted by German forces from 1941–45, she negotiated access to her gardens to grow food and observe the occupiers. A civic leader and musician, her diaries reveal the strength of the Guernsey grapevine. She later bequeathed them to the Ladies’ College.
Chaired by Steve Foote.
