The Dog’s in the Car is a collaboration between the artist and her father, who suffers from a unique short-term memory loss. Navigating intimacy, illness, and care through a performative photographic lens, Aftab explores where lightness can be found in disability and the bond it creates. We use a playful tone through visualising memories and notions of familial care. The project discusses a father-daughter relationship, alongside how one family decides to change how they view ideas of illness and identity.
