Michael Symmons Roberts’s books of poetry have won the Forward Prize, the Costa Poetry Award, and the Whitbread Prize. His eighth poetry collection, Ransom, was published in 2021 and shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize. It is an intense and vivid exploration of liberty and limit, of what it means to be alive, and searches for the possibility of hope in a fallen, wounded world. Michael is Professor of Poetry at Manchester Metropolitan University, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a Trustee of the Royal Literary Fund.
