The Discovery Room is a hands-on learning space where visitors of all ages can enjoy retro games, traditional toys, and this year's Cabinets of Curiosities.
It also includes our annually changing Time Warp - this year's theme, Escape the Tomb, is inspired by the 2025 discovery of Thutmose II's burial site and ongoing Egyptian excavations. With our Egyptologist Renouf mysteriously missing, visitors must solve puzzles using his journal notes while exploring Egyptian‑themed items, stories, sphinx riddles, hieroglyphics, costumes, jewellery, musical instruments, and sensory-friendly toys.
Trails and activity sheets are available from trolleys in the Museum Foyer and Brian White Gallery, along with seasonal extras, and a Sensory Sack can be borrowed from the Front Desk to support visitors exploring the museum and the 'Tree of Life' painting in the Rona Cole Gallery.
