The Arts Society Guernsey season of lectures starts on Wednesday 14th May with David Worthington talking about Auguste Rodin and 19th Century Sculpture.
Rodin is one of the heroic figures of 19th century art history. Out of favour for a time, he is now seen as having taken sculpturen to a revolutionary path equivalent to that of the impressionists. This lecture surveys his work, showing why is regarded as the greatest sculpture ever.
David graduated from Oxford University in 1984 with a degree in philosophy and theology, then studied fine art n London, Barcelona and New York, He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Sculptors and was vie-president in 2010-13. He has carried out public commissions in the UK, America and Japan and exhibited his sculptures at many solo shows in the UK.
