Guernsey Arts is pleased to announce financial support for entertainment at Pride and financial and distribution support for popular zine “The Word is Out” through the Guernsey Arts Grant Scheme. “The Word is Out” is a zine produced by Liberate for the second year running, with this year’s edition marking ten years of Pride. The zine provides a platform for LGBTQ+ artists, writers, photographers and creatives in the local community.
The funding from Guernsey Arts has helped Liberate make the publication more accessible to both contributors and readers, as well as supporting entertainment at Pride.
The zine has since been preserved online in a digital format on arts.gg and can be accessed here : https://www.arts.gg/exhibitions/word-is-out. It features contributions from creatives across the Channel Islands with the aim of the project being to create a space for self-expression while documenting aspects of local queer culture.
