This September will see a globally acclaimed watercolourist display his skills in Guernsey.
Moldovan artist Eugen Gorean will be showing 30 of his watercolours from Saturday 17 to Sunday 25 September 2016 in the Inner Street of Guernsey’s Market Buildings.
25-year-old Eugen graduated top of his class from the Chisinau Art Academy in Moldova. Since then his career has seen him exhibit all over the world, recently at the European Parliament. Following a visit to the island by Eugen earlier this year, the Guernsey show will include a series of paintings of the Bailiwick.
The exhibition has been arranged by Art for Guernsey, whose founder David Ummels first came across Eugen’s work four years ago. Since then he has been closely involved with his career, and that relationship has led to the Guernsey event.
The September exhibition will be free of charge with all sponsorship money being given to local charities. Eugen has also agreed to divide any profit equally with David, who will be donating his share to charity.
Alongside the exhibition Eugen will be involved with a number of community projects including visits to schools and retirement homes. He will also be holding a workshop where islanders can watch him create a watercolour capturing a scenic spot in Guernsey. The location for this and further details will be announced closer to the time of his visit.
