Liz Went reports on the first of the Shared Reading Project.
The Shared Reading Project hit the road today on its first visit to Maison M’aritime nursing home. The project aims to give people the opportunity to share good literature together in a friendly and interactive way. The residents enjoyed sharing a Joanne Harris short story and Betjeman’s ‘How to Get on in Society’ – which raised a few laughs. Residents started by listening to me read the story aloud and it was lovely when invited, a member of the group chose to continue reading. Pausing during the story for conversation, we had a lot of cheerful discussion and they related to the characters and situations by enlightening me about their own life and experiences. They made me feel really welcome and I look forward to next week!
If you would like to have the opportunity to experience The Shared Reading Project at the library on Saturday 14th September 3.00 – 4.30 pm contact Elizabeth Went at [email protected]
