The G.A.C. Challenge continues

There are now 12 entries in the G.A.C. Challenge available to hear on the Guernsey’s Arts Commission’s YouTube channel.

The songs span many styles and from the prog inflected rock music of Lyndon Queripel and his band Alias to the jangle pop of The Secret Seekers and even a “mini-musical” from Rickey Long.

The challenge, which was launched in October 2010, asks musicians from Guernsey to write a song or tune rooted in the chords or notes G, A and C but otherwise its a musical free-for-all.

There are no restrictions as to the style, length or instrumentation, so whether you want 1 acoustic guitar, a 4 piece band or a full orchestra the choice is yours!

And of course have fun and let the creative juices flow!

For some inspiration check out the entries we’ve had so far on YouTube and once you’ve written and recorded your song  burn them on a disk and send them to the Guernsey Arts Commission.

Or save them as an mp3 (or other general music file format) and email your song to [email protected] and if you have a few pictures of the band and some info to go with it that would be great too!

You can also upload them to YouTube yourself and send us an email letting us know where to find it so we can add it to the playlist.

If you have any questions regarding this project please email Russ Fossey, Chair of the Music Sub-Committee at [email protected]
