Guernsey Arts Commission Arts Development Team Summer Placement

This is an excellent opportunity, while based in a busy office environment, to gain varied and valuable hands on experience in arts administration. Working to the Head of Arts Development and closely liaising with the GAC’s Arts Assistant and Arts Marketing Manager you will be required to:-

– Assist in the preparations for the exhibition programme in the greenhouse
– Work with the Arts Marketing Manager on the GAC Volunteers’ Summer Party
– Prepare papers for meetings – bind reports, photocopy material
– Help the Arts Assistant in updating GAC website
– Work with Arts Assistant to create a GAC structure chart
– Assist in developing and maintaining the GAC’s databases
– Work on creating new website content for
– Research funding opportunities for 2013 GAC events
– Help prepare & distribute GAC material (including photographs for website if possible)
– Answer the phone and help deal with general enquiries
– Tackle anything else as required!

Desirable Skills/Qualities

– Educated to degree level (or equivalent), with good written English and attention to detail
– First class communication skills and an excellent telephone manner
– A keen interest in, and enthusiasm for, the Arts
– Computer literate with knowledge of design programmes, the Internet & social media

Duration: 4 weeks from 23rd July 2012

Hours: 9.00am – 5.00pm

Contract Work with invoice driven payment (weekly): 4 weeks x £250
