On 10th July 2011 Samba Sunday took place on the St Peter Port seafront, organising member of the Performing Arts Sub-Committee shared his thoughts on the day:
“The days events focussed on the drum led sounds of Samba and included two workshops from Guernsey’s Samba Burros band and two dance workshops led by the Let’s Dance Zumba group.
The town seafront proved to be very popular on Sunday with the restaurant’s al-fresco dining proving extremely popular. The Samba band started off the entertainment at midday with many people, the old and young alike, choosing to take part.
The Let’s Dance Zumba group then performed a dance workshop with many people taking part and many of the onlookers stopping to watch the performance.
As the afternoon progressed many more people got involved in the spirit of the event choosing to join in with both the dancing and drumming workshops.
At 4.00pm the parade took place along the seafront, a mass of colour and sound, and as they marched along the seafront many people joined in the parade and it certainly caught the attention of all those it passed.
All in all beautiful weather rounded off an exciting and enjoyable afternoon.”
