Post-Christmas, the latest exhibition in the greenhouse, is now open.
The exhibition was organised in partnership with Guernsey Post and looks at a selection of the island’s festive stamp designs over the last 40 years.
Dawn Gallienne, who is Head of Philatelic at Guernsey Post, was on hand at the opening of the exhibition on Thursday 17th November 2011. She explained that over the years Guernsey Post have featured many different designs but that they are designed to feature religious imagery every other year and more general festive imagery in the years in between.
This can be seen in the work displayed in the exhibition some of which feature scenes of the nativity or local churches while others feature Father Christmas or general winter scenes of Guernsey and Alderney created by local artists.
The exhibition runs until January 31st and you can see photos from the opening on our Facebook page.
the greenhouse is located in the Guernsey Information Centre and is open 9-5 Monday to Friday and 9-1 Saturday (from 28th November: Monday- Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday 10am-12.30pm).
