Portfolio Review – 01 October 2014

An informal drop-in session where you can receive tips and constructive feedback on how to improve and develop your work from local professional photographers Jean-Christophe Godet, Martin Purvis and Ben Bailey.

Film Screen: Tim Hetherington – 03 October 2014

Film Screening: Which Way is The Front Line From Here? The Life and Times of Tim Hetherington. Shortly after his visit to Guernsey during the festival in 2010 and the release of his documentary ‘Restrepo’, photographer Tim Hetherington was killed in Libya. Colleague and film maker Sebastian Junger traces Hetherington’s work across the worlds battlefields to reveal how his transcended the boundaries of image-making to become a luminary in his profession.

Talk: Martin Purvis – 08 October 2014

A History of Documentary Photography With Martin Purvis. An open lecture by Martin Purvis, Programme Manager for Art and Design, Guernsey College of F.E. This illustrated lecture will overview the past, present and possible futures of documentary photography.

Workshop: Landscape Photography – 11 October 2014

A full day exploring Lihou and the surrounding area. We will spend the day exploring the area to photograph this stunning headland. Jean-Christophe will be giving tips throughout on composition, light metering, filters etc Lunch will be a relaxed outdoor affair and everyone is welcome to bring their own picnic or go to the pub or chip shop if the weather is not as good. TRANSFORMING: SEVEN OF THE BEST EXHIBITION

A showcase of some of the best art, design, media and photography from the 2014 end-of-year shows at the College of Further Education, Elizabeth College, the Grammar School and Ladies College. MAKING A MARK EXHIBITION

Open daily until 31 December 2014

Artists communicate through making marks. In this exhibition you’ll be able to explore how these various marks are made, from straightforward drawing materials to elaborate printing techniques.

LETS SWING AT ST JAMES

An evening of the Big Band music you love and featuring some of the finest musical and vocal talent in the island. It doesn’t get bigger than this! An evening packed full of songs from all the great artists including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Michael Bublé and many more. Get in the swing with the singers and musicians who brought you an evening of James Bond music in 2013. Join the Big Band and “Let’s Swing at St James”.

An exhibition of the work produced by ‘The Big Draw’ workshops organised by Bridget Spinney and Frances Lemmon at Les Beaucamps High School. The exhibition will showcase the exploratory work and three large canvases produced by pupils taking part in this exciting event.
