Next local music CD fundraiser announced

GBG Gig Poster April 2011 designed by Steven LynchThe Music Sub-Committee and Twist Records are continuing the drive towards releasing a new compilation CD of local musical talent with a third fundraising gig at the Fermain Tavern on 2nd April.

The show will feature a rare performance by Guernsey’s own original hardcore punks Insurrection (their second performance in 20 years) as they warm up for a gig in Bristol supporting The Mob, Zounds and Rubella Ballet later in the month.

The band formed on the crest of the underground punk wave in the mid 1980s and performed both in Guernsey and the UK before releasing an eponymous album on Peaceville Records. They reformed in 2009 and played last year’s Scumfest punk festival in London.

Also on the bill for the fundraiser are Guernsey’s own metalcore heroes Brutus Stonefist who are currently working on their debut album, Tantale, who’s grunge tinged rock saw them win the Battle of the Bands in December 2010 and new outfit China Aster.

All four bands will be on stage at the Fermain Tavern on April 2nd from 8pm with music provided between the sets by DJ Crayven.

Copies of GBG #2 will be on sale at the gig and all money made on the night will go towards GBG #3.

For more information on how to get your music onto the CD you can contact Russ Fossey, chair of Music Sub-Committee.
