Art on the Beach

Yesterday myself and the Guernsey Arts Commission team headed over to Vazon bright and early to set up for Art on the Beach in the glorious sunshine, sporting our matching pink t-shirts of course! We slapped the sun cream on and put on our sunnies ready to get stuck in to create an enormous sea life installation on the wave breaker steps.

The day turned out to be just as lovely as the weather. Hundreds of people – grown-ups and children alike – came over to take part in the creative activities being run by an array of local and UK artists to make giant jelly fish, shellfish, fish, starfish and seaweed to add to the giant art installation. Without forgetting the giant sea beasts helping to make Bernard the basking shark, Coleen the cuttlefish and Charlene the crab!!  It was great to see people of all ages taking part together, admiring each other’s work and experimenting with their creative skills. My role was to coordinate the installation and place the artwork over the steps to form and underwater scene – it was a lot of fun!
