Guernsey Symphony Orchestra ‘Reach For The Sky’

The Guernsey Symphony Orchestra’s Credit Suisse Series 2011, which has been supported by the Guernsey Arts Commission, continues at St James on Saturday 19th November with a concert entitled Reach For The Sky (Heavenly Bodies and Celtic Mystics).

The concert will feature a guest appearance from Guernsey musician Janine Mallet who will perform Vaughan Williams’ Tuba Concerto in F Minor with the orchestra. Janine has played tuba across the UK and America and has appeared with many ensembles including Chubazz Quartet and the RNCM Alumni ensemble.

Guest conductor on the night will be Ewa Strusińska, who also conducted the orchestra in July this year. Strusińska has conducted a range of orchestras including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, National Polish Radio Orchestra, Czestochowa Philharmonic Orchestra, Rzeszów Philharmonic Orchestra, Koszalin Philharmonic Orchestra, Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

The night will be rounded off with a performance of Gustav Holst’s Planets Suite featuring Guernsey’s Bel Canto Choir.
