Do you want to play a key part in Guernsey’s very first Literary Festival? Then why not sign up as a Festival Volunteer and help us in the run up to, and at, the festival between the 12 -15th May 2011?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic team of talented volunteers to help steer the Festival to success.
The inaugural Guernsey Literary Festival takes place between Thursday 12th and Sunday 15th May this year and, although we’ve already done the groundwork, sourcing and booking performers and celebrity guests, we now urgently need a group of local volunteers to help make the Festival happen.
Specialised skills are not essential for a volunteer but a combination of enthusiasm, people-skills and a good sense of humour definitely is!
This is a great opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie that goes with being part of an exciting and memorable cultural event.
We’ve invited big names from the world of literature such as Annie Barrows (The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society), renowned children’s author, Kevin Crossley-Holland, prominent poets such as Caroline Carver, Ann Gray and Caroline Bird, plus Ade Morris, Dan Purdue, John Cooper Clarke, Tim Binding, and broadcaster Bill Turnbull, as well as many, many others, to join with our local writers and performers to provide a showcase of literary talent such as the island has not previously seen.
Starting with a sparkling Vin d’Honneur for visiting speakers, the Festival will host a Gala Dinner at the Old Government House Hotel before launching into an exciting programme of events including literary talks, poetry readings, panel discussions, writing and publishing workshops, story-telling sessions, folklore, literary-based films, and even a blood-curdling Murder Mystery evening in the atmospheric surroundings of the Prialux Library.
Volunteers should be 16 years or over and there’s no upper age limit.
