Are you passionate about the arts and artistic opportunities for all? This is a fantastic opportunity to become a new director with the Guernsey Arts Commission and take Guernsey’s arts scene to new heights

The Guernsey Arts Commission is looking for new voluntary directors to join its board ahead of the next phase of its development.

As a director, you’ll help the Arts Commission discharge its responsibilities to the arts and islanders. As part of the Guernsey Arts Commission, you’ll be involved in shaping and implementing the Island’s new arts strategy and championing the arts and artists. From supporting budding new local talent, facilitating an exciting international exhibition to set up locally or establishing initiatives for access to the arts, the new directors will support the sector in a wide range of ways. Directors will serve between three and five years.

Successful candidates will highly motivated and passionate about the arts in all its forms. They have a passion about opening the arts up for all islanders and advocating the benefits of artistic endeavors for the community. They will appreciate the need for a diverse arts offering in terms of genre and to be sensitive to the economic challenges facing locally artists, art initiatives and, indeed, audiences. They will have an eye for spotting opportunities and cultivating networks of support for the arts. 

A background in the arts is not a prerequisite, but excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Ideally, you will have previous board experience.
