Grant awarded to GAC to deliver Reminiscence Arts’ project

We are delighted to have received a grant from the Pargiter Trust, which is managed in Guernsey by the Guernsey Community Foundation. This grant is to deliver a pilot ‘Reminiscence Arts’ project for people living with Dementia.

The Community Arts team will be trained next week by a facilitator from the UK Charity, Age Exchange, who for over 25 years have worked with older people to improve their quality of life. This is through valuing their reminiscences and giving them opportunities for wider appreciation in the form of visual and performance arts projects, intergenerational projects, exhibitions and documentary film.

Alongside this training the facilitator will be offering a ‘Dementia Friends’ session (an ‘Alzheimer’s Society’ initiative), which is open to the general public. It will be held on Monday 24th November from 9-10am in the Carol Hindes room at Les Cotils. Please pass this information on to anyone you think might be interested.
