GBG launch will bring music to the Fermain again

GBG 2: The Launch
Saturday 2nd October 8.00pm

In the spring of this year, the Guernsey Arts Commission’s music sub-committee together with twist records released the hotly anticipated GBG 2 CD, a compilation of music by 21 local bands on the island. The sale of the CD has proven to be a massive success, so the Music Sub-Committee has decided to have a fundraising gig in honor of this CD and to kick start funds for GBG 3!

The gig quite appropriately will happen at the soon to be reopened and newly renovated Fermain Tavern on Saturday 2nd October and will feature performances from the bands and solo artists which featured on GBG 2 as a celebration to them and their achievements. Headlining the event will be Teaspoonriverneck, Asylum Seekas and Sark resident Wez Coombes. Hosting the night will be BBC Introducing presenter Tom Girard who will also act as DJ playing exclusively local music.

Mark Le Gallez from the Sub-Committee and brainchild of the GBG releases says “ The number of artists and quality of music on GBG2 was overwhelming and spurred us on to start fundraising for the next release, The Tavern in its new form will be the ideal venue to showcase as many bands as possible from GBG2”

This event will also feature music from new and upcoming outfits. So all in all it should make for a fantastic night of diverse music! The evening will kick off at 8pm with tickets costing £5.00, these are available on the door and do not need to be pre-purchased. The GBG 2 CD will also be available to purchase on the night at a cost of £5.00.

All profits from this event will go towards GBG 3 which the Music Sub-Committee are looking to produce for autumn 2011.
