August 31st is the last chance for bands and musicians in the Bailiwick to submit tracks for GBG#3, a new compilation of local music from the Guernsey Arts Commission’s music sub-committee and Twist Records.
GBG#3 is the third in a series of compilation releases from Twist Records that has gained airplay from as far afield as Sweden and the USA, as well as in the UK and Guernsey. It’s hoped the compilation will give Guernsey bands and musicians the chance to get heard in the wider world.
To submit a track for the album fill out this form and return it to the address provided.
Fundraising for the CD also continues in August with a fundraising gig at the Fermain Tavern on Saturday 20th August.
The gig will feature three live acts spanning sounds from blues and country to post-rock and garage.
Wild Card will be headlining the show with their take on the traditional blues sound of the American south. Featuring John O’Neill, Adrian Miller and Tom Tardiff the band mix hard and soft blues and original material with their take on some blues classics.
Lifejacket will be playing only their second gig on the night following a very popular debut at Chaos in July. The band, made up of guitarist Andy Sauvage, bassist Ryan Bessin and drummer Claire Mockett, will be bringing the mix of post-rock and real indie sounds to the night.
Opening the night will be another new comer, The Phantom Cosmonaut. Armed with an electric guitar he plays a mix of sounds from country and folk to punk and garage in as stripped down and raucous a way as possible.
Doors open at 8 and entry is £5 with all proceeds going toward the production of the album.
