One month in, I have started to get my feet under the desk into the new role as General Manager for Guernsey Arts Commission and am enjoying this honeymoon period of listening to aspirations of the staff and commissioners and getting an understanding of the organisation’s culture and processes. Meeting local musicians and beneficiaries of the arts grant scheme was a highlight on my first day with a frank discussion on how the Guernsey Arts Commission can support a wide range of musicians and artists on the Bailiwick.
Meanwhile, I am getting a grip on the budgets and fundraising priorities as well as working with the team on the new website, marketing and programming for next year. I am also looking forward to working with the Public Art sub-committee to develop guidelines and a commissioning plan over the coming months.
Having previously worked at Arts Council England travelling around the South West as a regional planner, I am particularly pleased to be focusing my energies into Guernsey Arts Commission at this exciting point in its development cycle. Much has been achieved in the first five years and I am delighted to be on board for the next crucial stage. I look forward to meeting you all in due course so please come and say hello!
