Cai Guo-Qiang: Fires Noonday Gun

Following on from the official opening of the exhibition ‘Beijing Games: Sketches & Video’ in the greenhouse gallery, the Chinese-born Artist Cai Guo-Qiang visited Castle Cornet in St Peter Port today to fire the Noonday Gun.

The firing of the Noonday Gun has been a tradition in Guernsey since the early 19th Century. This forms part of the busy schedule of events that Cai will be attending on his three day visit to the Channel Islands before travelling to the Olympic opening ceremony in London this Friday.

Dont forget their is still the chance to attend a talk by Cai Guo-Qiang in discussion with Eric Snell founding director of Art and Islands, this Wednsday 25th at the Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts.
