Arts Sunday 2018

Arts Sunday is back in town! For the eighth year running, Arts Sunday takes pride of place on the seafront, starting bright and early at 10am, finishing at 5pm.

Organised by the Guernsey Arts Commission, the local arts and music community come together on Sunday 10th June to create a fantastic day of culture, entertainment and fun that’s free and for everyone.

This year we have teamed up with Guernsey MIND and School of Popular Music, in a campaign entitled ‘Express Yourself’, to promote the benefits of creativity on our positive mental health. We are carrying this theme into Arts Sunday and are encouraging stallholders and performers to engage with the theme.

This is a great opportunity for everyone, young and old, to immerse themselves in a day completely focused on creativity in all its shapes and forms and at all levels.

All stallholders have been encouraged to make their stalls as creative as possible, with workshops and demonstrations, so this day is a superb opportunity to try your hand at something new.

Arts Sunday Arts Sunday is for our local craftsmen, musicians, performers and artists’ day of opportunity to offer their immense talents to the island. We will have in the arts’ market, an enormous selection of artisan creations: Guernsey crafts, home-bakes, exquisite gems, textiles and home fabrics and many painters, graphic designers and illustrators of a variety of genres, you cannot fail to be impressed. This Arts Market really does boast the craftsmanship of local, (some established-some start-up) enterprises.

Music at every corner will entertain you with a huge palette of sounds from the Vale Earth Fair Collective, and The Express Yourself Stage, as well as Thirst and School of Popular Music, and the BBC Introducing Stage of course returns again. The stages are packed from start to finish.

The whole atmosphere will be one of community, where you can engage in workshops and trial music sessions, listen to local music, whilst dining al fresco and enjoying the backdrop of our beautiful St Peter Port seafront.

The Guernsey Arts Commission promotes the accessibility of arts and culture to be available to everyone. This day is just that – so make the most of the biggest GAC event of the year, from 10am until 5pm.

Come and celebrate what Guernsey has to offer.
