Russ Fossey has been appointed the new Head of Arts Development for the Guernsey Arts Commission.
The Guernsey Arts Commission was launched in Guernsey in 2008 with the intention of promoting the value, relevance and importance of the arts. The new head will plan and lead cultural arts activities in a way that supports the Commission’s values and objectives and will develop, enhance and administer a broad cultural arts program.
Trevor Wakefield, Chair of the Arts Commission, says, “I am delighted that Russ has been appointed to this position. His broad interest in the arts, combined with his excellent management and business experience, make him the ideal choice. In his role as commissioner, over the past six or seven months he has worked with myself and other commissioners to create the new, inclusive strategy and vision for the Arts Commission. This is an exciting time for the Commission and I am confident that Russ has the enthusiasm and the right skills to take the Commission into the next phase of its development”
Commenting on his appointment, Russ said:
“I am very much looking forward to starting in the role. My career to date has been in retail management. I am relishing bringing my management and people skills together with my passion and appreciation of the Arts in delivering the vision and strategy of the commission, which I have been involved with since 2009. There is great opportunity for the Arts to further contribute to the success and wellbeing of our island, artistically and in areas of health, education, employment and tourism. I am looking forward to meeting the many people that currently contribute to the Arts.”
Russ will start take up his new role on 18th April 2016.
