Building better Healthcare Awards are held each year to celebrate innovation and improvement in the built environment, medical devices and people working in the healthcare industry.
Oberlands Centre was shortlisted for the BBH Award in 2 categories: Best Mental Health Project and Estates Team of the Year. Although, Oberlands didn’t win the main trophy it was highly commended for the Estates Team of the Year category and this means the world to all of us.
We would like to thank every single person who got involved and helped to make Oberlands Centre in Guernsey a beautiful and positive space for the service users and staff. Lottie Barnes – Community Arts & Arts in Health Manager at GAC, was a member of the HSC commissioning team and her role was to look at how the arts can be used to help create a positive healthcare environment. Major contributing artists include: Hugh Rose, Frances Hilary Lemmon, James Colmer, Antonia Ramsey.
“Engaging service users early in the design process and involving them in the arts programme had many benefits. When moving into their new facility, it reduced anxiety, created a familiar and welcoming space and meant they had a sense of ownership”
