The Guernsey Jazz Orchestra presents Big Band Fireworks. The Guernsey Jazz Orchestra takes to the stage to present an evening of music from some of the biggest names in jazz. From Gordon Goodwin to Frank Sinatra, Phil Collins' Big Band to Michael Bublé there's something for everyone. Together with some of Guernsey's most talented vocalists, GJO's exciting programme includes the classics as well as modern Big Band charts. Katie studied saxophone at the Birmingham Conservatoire and is now working locally as an instrumental teacher and freelance musician. Adding their sonorous sounds is the Guernsey Welsh Male Voice Choir, conducted by Fiona Le Tissier, who sing a variety of ontrasting works before joining forces with the full band for a Grand Finae. St James Lecture Lunch Series with Andrew Dyke - 'Guernsey Farmhouses and their Evolution' With 40 years in practice and a substantial emphasis on conservation and historic building work, Chartered Architect Andrew Dyke has worked on farmhouses, manoirs, mills, cottages, towers and many of Guernsey's iconic buildings including Castle Cornet, Town Church, Saumarez Manor, historic fortifications and the little chapel to name a few. In his capacity as Buildings Advisor to the National Trust of Guernsey for over thirty years he has had responsibility for all the buildings and structures owned by them or in their care. Andrew has also been responsible for reintroducing the use of the traditional thatch as well as clay and lime mortars on the island. In this fascinating talk, Andrew looks at our Guernsey farmhouses and how they evolved from medieval times to the 19th century along with some of their interesting characteristics Tickets £20 and must be booked in advance of the event.
