In The Greenhouse:
We've Got It Covered
Opening Thursday 14th April: 5.30-7.00pm

We've Got It Covered opens in the greenhouse on the evening of
Thursday 14th April and we look forward to seeing you there.

The exhibition explores the designs of the dust jacket art for
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
.

Artwork and copies of the book from around the world will be on
display alongside a rare glimpse from the UK publishers, Bloomsbury into
the way the cover of the book processed.

Also on display will be the entries in a competition which challenged local students to design their own version of the book cover.

Guernsey Literary Festival
Guernsey Literary Festival less than a month away - 12th-15th May

As the first ever Guernsey Literary Festival, sponsored by Barclays Wealth, draws near tickets for all events are now available at arts.gg and if you want to book by phone you can do by calling Lizzie on 07781 401026 on weekdays between 12:30 and 2:30. You can also contact Lizzie to book your place at a special dinner taking place on Friday 13th of May, at the OGH with Annie Barrows, co-author of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Annie will be talking about the book and how it came about and there will be live musical entertainment from acoustic guitarist Jamie-Lee. The Festival is also on the lookout for volunteers to help out over the four days, if you want to be involved then check out the blog at arts.gg for more information.

Careers Fair
Creative Industries at the Careers Fair

On Tuesday 5th April thousands of students descended on Beau Sejour for the annual Guernsey Careers Service Careers Fair, and this year the Guernsey Arts Commission was there to represent the Creative Industries.

Chair of the GAC's Creative Industries Sub-Committee, Tony Gallienne, said: "The Creative Industries are becoming an important part of advanced economies, of which Guernsey is one and the GAC has been instrumental in introducing the concept of the Creative Industries as an economic sector into Guernsey."
GBG Fundraiser
GBG Fundraiser

The Commission's Music Sub-Committee held their latest fundraiser for the GBG compilation CD at the Fermain Tavern on 2 April.

Music was provided by metalcore band Brutus Stonefist, experimental rockers Tantale and indie rockers China Aster, who were playing their first ever gig. You can read more about it on the blog at arts.gg or see photos from the gig on our Facebook page.

Other News

The Commission is sad to announce that Marie-Claire Belford has left the Arts Development Team, however, her role as Community Arts Officer has been taken over by Brett Klement who has already been involved with the project at Le Genats and has been involved with designing the We've Got It Covered exhibition.

We have also once again teamed up with the Culture and Leisure Department to run a busking scheme for St Peter Port. To find out more and get involved check out the blog at arts.gg.
