Poems on the buses
Poems on the Buses

After a great launch on Sunday 21 February, Poems on the Buses can now be seen on 33 of the Island Coachways Ltd fleet. Look out for the brilliant and unique poetry that won this year’s competition. We would like to thank Norman Piette, Tussie Mussie and Amour for their sponsorship and support for Poems on the Buses.

Poetry Spotters Competition

Poems on the Buses have also launched its island wide Poetry Spotters competition. The competition which runs until 30th June will test your observation skills about the poetry in the buses. Pick up a leaflet on any of the Island Coachways to be in with a chance of winning.
Antony Gromley figures
Antony Gormley

As you may have noticed the Antony Gormley figures which have dominated the Castle Cornet skyline for the last two years have now come down. And although we are going to miss those beautiful and haunting figures, we are delighted to announce that on 20th March we will be unveiling Gormley’s latest installation in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. One of his Another Time sculptures will be taking centre stage on Herm Island. This installation will remain on Herm until next year.

Half term workshops
Half Term Workshops

Fun was had by all in the February half term workshops. A total of 50 children took part and Laura Simpson our Community Arts Development Officer who led the week enjoyed every minute of it. “It was lovely to meet some new children and catch up with some old friends too. Yet again the participants created some terrific works in art and mastered new skills they hadn’t tried before. Several have been in touch to show me the work they’ve produced at home, using their newly acquired talents.” Laura will be running more workshops throughout the year so do contact her to be put on the workshop database at laura@arts.gg.

There are many more artists who have contributed to the CD and we for one are very excited about purchasing a copy. The CD costs £10 and details of where you can a copy will be released in the couple of weeks.
