Talking Drums

John Eyden – drum workshop Monday 12 April – 7pm Performing Arts Centre

The Music sub-committee of the Guernsey Arts Commission is pleased to bring the next “Talking Drums” to the Performing Arts Centre. The session features UK jazz/blues/funk drummer John Eyden.

John will be well remembered by the island’s musicians of the 60s as he played extensively in Guernsey with residencies at St George’s Hall, the Cellar Club and the Channel Islands Hotel in the early 1960s. He has many years experience as a professional drummer and teacher.

John spent many years on the jazz/blues circuit in London including being resident drummer with organist Harry Stoneham on Terry Wogan’s radio show between 1962 – 1964. The sessions were recorded live and featured leading singers across a wide variety of music

His current gigs include bands which regularly feature:

Jim Mullen – guitar

Jo Fooks – saxophone (Humphrey Lyttelton)

Digby Fairweather – trumpet

Simon Bates – saxophone (MD to Bette Midler)

Derek Nash – saxophone (Sax Appeal / Jools Holland)

Louise Clare Marshall – vocals (Jools Holland)

Sarah Bolter – saxophone (Not Just Sax)
