About us – Creative Industries Forum
Creativity in the Community
Creative Industries are an interface between art and community. Creative businesses provide careers for innovative and skilled people, and make those skills viable and sustainable in our society. Through creative businesses, art is able to transform the cultural environment through the whole range of artistic disciplines.
“…a strong, confident and innovative arts ecology provides the bedrock for (or is it lifeblood to?) a dynamic, growing and increasingly competitive creative economy, which in turn delivers value for the wider national interest. “
Supporting growth in the arts economy, Dr Tom Fleming and Andrew Erskine.
What We Do
Did you know that Guernsey has over 150 creative businesses? It’s a sign of the strength and vitality of the island’s culture and it’s a resource we should be proud of.
At Guernsey Arts Commission we believe that good communication and close collaboration are essential to creative and creative businesses – and we can help. The aim of the Arts Commission’s Creative Industries Forum is to promote closer relationships between creative businesses, the arts, the States, education, and people – customers, employees, suppliers, artists and technicians.
We support creative businesses covering:
|Art & antiques markets||Broadcast Media (Television and radio)|
|Film and video||Music|
If you have a talent in the arts, or are interested in the arts, then the fast growing Creative Industries sector could offer you a job which will develop that talent and interest, and provide you with a great career.
We have artists who make a living from their art, and a number of commercial photographers. There are media companies and web designers working for local and international clients. There are a whole range of craft companies, art galleries, interior designers and jewelers. In journalism and publishing, Guernsey has a number of newspapers, as well as radio and TV stations.
